localization: Ethnographic Department of the National MuseumAbbots’ Granary, Gdańsk, Poland
commissioned by: National Museum in Gdańsk
curator: Waldemar Elwart
cooperation: National Museum of the Romanian Peasant in Bucharest
year: 2016
status: realized

The exhibition presents traditional costumes and numerous wedding objects from different regions of Romania together with photos and audiovisual content shared by National Romanian Peasant Museum in Bucharest.
We created an arrangement that emphasis the interesting historic interiors of Abbots’ Granary, at the same time being subtle background for presented items. Wedding outfits were categorized by regions and presented behind picture frames resembling a wedding photographs. Half opaque backgrounds with traditional Romanian folk patterns discreetly divide an open space room, leading the visitors along the exhibition route. Smaller exhibits were presented in geometric forms substituting traditional exhibition cabinets.
