Project of dedicated furniture.
commissioned by: Muzeum Emigracji w Gdyni
year: 2016
status: realized
In May 2016 Emigration Museum in Gdynia, in cooperation with ancestry.com portal launched, as the first public institution in Poland, a possibility to search an enormous database to help finding family roots around the world. To enable the search we created special, customized computer posts.
The goal was to create an aesthetic piece of furniture, stillistically fitted into the museum’s interiors. It had to be easy and comfortable to use for all guests, at the same time being safe and protecting the electronics.
The idea comes to an easy and clean solution. Bent steel sheet makes a base of the stand. Wooden board going through it creates a working space on the outside and a support for computers in the inside. The form is being complemented with wooden finishing cover and a fitted stool.
At this moment the museum provides three double stands visited by vast amount of people.
